Danish research programmes
Denmark has a solid portofolio of programmes for public funding of energy research, development and demonstration.
Several programmes provide funding for Danish energy research and development and demonstration. The database Danish Energy R&D Projects contains descriptions of current and completed energy research, development and demonstration projects in Denmark.
The projects are completely or partly financed by the Danish Energy Authority's Programme for Energy Technology Development and Demonstration (EUDP) and /or funds administered by the Danish Energy Association (former ELFOR) and Energinet.dk (former Eltra, Elkraft and Gastra).
Furthermore the database covers projects financed by the Danish Council for Strategic Research - Programme Commission on Sustainable Energy and Environment, Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation research in energy and environment, as well as projects financed by the Hydrogen programme (1999-2001).
The Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP)
The programme was was initiated in January 2008 after being approved by the EU Commission. The programme is administered by a secretariat supplied by the Danish Energy Agency. The Secretariat is referring to the Board.
The Board is authorised to decide which projects are to receive support. The first call was made in February 2008 in two parts: second generation bioethanol technologies and other energy technologies. A further call also in two parts was repeated in June 2008. The overall support in 2008 amount to approx. 300 mio. DKK. An overview of projects that received support in 2008 is published on the web site (Danish only).
An annual report for 2008 concerning EUDP and other Danish programmes for funding of energy research, development and demonstration is also published on the website (Danish only).
Further information is available only in the Danish section. Priorities and conditions for partipating in the programme as well as formulars needed is available here.
Energinet.dk
Energinet.dk, a company responsible for the operation of the Danish transmission electricity and natural gas transmission system since January 2005, provides funding for energy RD&D projects concerning environmentally friendly production of power. Before 2005 the system operators ELTRA and ELKRAFTSYSTEM were responsible (further information only available on Danish homepage). In 2008 130 million DKK is available for project funding. Further information is available on their website.
Dansk Energi - Danish Energy Association
Dansk Energi, previously named Elfor,, an association of electricity distribution companies, provides funding for energy RD&D projects concerning efficient use of electricity. In 2008 25 million DKK is available for project funding. Further information is available on their website.
The Strategic Research Council
The Strategic Research Council (Det Strategiske Forskningsråd) provides funding for energy research projects concerning renewable energy technologies and energy conservation. In 2007 approx. 105 million DKK is available. Further information available in Danish on the website of The Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation
The Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation
The Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation (Højteknologifonden) has since 2005 funded energy technology projects with approx. 50 mio. DKK yearly. Further information on their website.
