Innovation Center Iceland

Innovation Center Iceland was established in 2007 with the merger of the Technical Institute of Iceland (IceTec) and the Icelandic Building Research Institute (IBRI).

 

The Mission of the Innovation Center Iceland is

  • To strengthen the competitive position of Icelandic business and increase the quality of life
  • To diffuse knowledge and give support to entrepreneurs, growth companies and innovative enterprise
  • To excel in technology research, product development, analysis and testing.


Partnership and cooperation with universities, businesses and government-backed operations is viewed as the key to success in all activities of the Innovation Center Iceland. The Center strives to maintain strong ties with local and international businesses and institutions in order to succeed in fostering innovation and applied research in Iceland and ensure technology transfer and development cooperation.

The Innovation Center Iceland operates under the Ministry of Industry and receives revenue from both the public and private sectors. The Center has three divisions:

  • Icelandic Technological Research
  • Entrepreneurs and SME services
  • Human Resources and Services
