Oslo Renewable Energy and Environment Cluster (OREEC)

OREEC is facilitating cooperation between industry, research, education and public authorities, and the aim is to increase the commercial opportunities of the companies.

OREEC was established early 2007, and is the result of a strategic focus at Lillestrøm Centre of Expertise (LCE), and a common process between Innovation Norway and the counties of Oslo and Akershus of developing cluster initiatives in the Oslo Region.
The secretariat of OREEC is located at LCE, and the initiative is financed through a private-public partnership.

OREECs main focus areas:

  • Renewables - sun, wind, water, and hydrogen as energy carrier
  • Climate technology, emissions, Carbon Capture and Storage (CSS)
  • Waste management and recycling
  • Energy efficiency and energy systems analyses
  • Bio-energy, stationary and in the transport sector

An interdisciplinary approach is important for OREEC. The work is focused on areas such as:

  • Competence and education
  • Research and development
  • International cooperation
  • National and international profiling
  • Contact with political authorities
  • Conferences and networking
  • Initiating industrial projects
