FLEXIBLE. Directly driven linear wave energy converters are deployed and coupled in arrays at intervals of 25-50 meters. The number of units deployed can vary from a few to several thousand, which gives the system a unique flexibility and scalability.

The Seabased AB system is based on a unique three-phase, permanent magnet, linear generator especially developed to be utilised in ocean bed arrays and directly driven by point absorbers (buoys) on the surface.
By deploying the robust, simple and small, yet scientifically and technically sophisticated wave energy converters of Swedish Seabased AB in arrays on the ocean floor, a scaleable power plant with high economic potential is achieved.
The Seabased AB solutions contribute to vital environmental goals. Greenhouse gases and other emissions will be reduced and sensitive marine environments will be left untouched.
The technology is currenty being deployed near the island Runde off the Norwegian west coast, about 500 m from the SW shore. The installation will consist of two Seabased wave power devices, an under-water switchgear and a sub-sea cable connecting the 40 kW generators to the 22-kV grid.
