Energy generation from waste heat
Single-Phase Power provides solutions for profitable energy recycling. Their turnkey powerplants can turn your low temperature industrial waste heat into clean and safe, profitable power.
INNOVATIVE: Industrial waste heat can generate power.
Single-Phase Power provides solutions for energy recycling. Their main product is a power plant that produces electric power from low temperature heat (70°C and higher), or combined heat and power (CHP) from medium temperature heat (150°C and higher). The power plants are reversible and can be used as heat pumps without temperature limitations. Typical heat sources that can be recycled to generate power include:
- Industrial waste/surplus heat
- Waste incineration
- Biomass combustion
- District heating
- Commercial ships
- Solar energy
- Geothermal energy
- Cooling/steam generation
Single-Phase Power's power plants generate from 50 kW to 3 MW, which translates up to € 2 million per year for typical customers. The turnkey powerplants are installed as self-contained modules, easily connected to existing installations via piping. Operation is simple and automated, and the power plants do not interfere with current processes in the plant. Single-Phase Power offers full service contracts.
Single-Phase Power's power plants comply with international HSE regulations, and are inspected by independent certification bodies. The power plants operate on a closed cycle, and contain only minute amounts of environmentally friendly elements like helium.
Single-Phase Power has installed one pilot plant at Hurum Energigjenvinning's waste incinerator in Tofte, Norway, and a second pilot plant will be installed at Moelven Eidsvoll Værk's sawmill in 2009. The first commercial power plants are ready to be installed by the end of the year. Single-Phase Power's staff have 35 years of combined experience with the technology, energy management and energy research.
Single-Phase Power's major shareholders are Energy Future Invest (a cleantech VC owned by Eidsiva Vekst and Statkraft), Joma Næringspark (service partner) and employees. Single-Phase Power is funded by Innovation Norway, the Research Council of Norway and ENOVA.
