BioWood is owned by Hafslund as majority shareholder and Møre og Romsdal Biobrensel AS. The factory will provide stable access to refined bio fuel for industrial purposes, as well as increase the conversion from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas, to renewable energy carriers. BioWood Norway AS is the beginning of a new environmental fairytale in Norway.
Wood pellets
Pellets are small, cylindrical objects with a diameter less than 20mm, made of compressed and dried biomaterial. Standard diameters are 6, 8 and 12mm. The raw material is wood, which is dried to a water content of 9% or lower. The chips are milled into fine particles before drying. Because of their small size, pellets can be handled in practically the same way as oil, making them ideal for transportation in bulk for large loads or in large or small sacks for smaller loads.
