Today Fortum is the market leader in the Nordic countries in the sales and distribution of electricity and in district heat, and it is the second largest electricity provider. In addition to the Nordic countries, Fortum is actively developing its operations in Poland, the Baltic countries and Russia.

Research and development projects

Fortum is regularly involved in dozens of R&D projects. In 2008, the projects are allocated between three programmes.
