Orkuveita Reykjavíkur harness hot water from geothermal fields in Reykjavík and distribute to our customers.  In addition, they operate geothermal plants at Hellisheiði and Nesjavellir where they heat groundwater and distribute to the district heating. They produce electricity by using geothermal, high-pressure steam at their plants at Hellisheiði and Nesjavellir. They distribute cold water from their groundwater reservoir.  They also maintain sewage systems.
