Spanning the whole solar energy value chain
Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) is a fully integrated solar energy company. Operations span the whole solar value chain, from silicon, wafer, cell, module production to system integration.
REC delivers high-quality solar energy solutions that provide long-term value
REC is the most integrated solar energy company in the world. The company puts a lot of effort into improving the technologies, processes, products and production levels to make solar energy more competitive. REC is associated with a massive effort in R&D.
Proprietary silicon production technology
REC is the world’s largest producer of silicon materials for PV applications and holds all rights to its proprietary production technology. REC holds more than 100 approved or pending patents. The Fluidized Bed Reactor technology is one of the latest and most promising results of our technology program.
Cost-efficient wafer production technology
REC is one of the world’s largest producer of PV wafers, with a proven track record in rapid expansions and introduction of leading production management techniques to increase productivity. REC combines state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment with proprietary technologies to ensure highly productive production.
Highly automated plants in cell and module production
REC Solar’s cell and module facilities are among the most automated plants in Europe, and REC is currently developing new technology to strengthen the competitiveness and ensure future growth. The facilities are focused on few products and customers, allowing a lean approach to production.
Capacity and performance
REC is currently running a program of capacity expansion. The most significant of these expansions efforts is an investment in an integrated solar manufacturing complex in Singapore. Production ramp-up is expected to start in the first half of 2010. When this plant is fully up and running, the company expect to increase the wafer capacity to 2.4 GW, solar cell capacity to 780 MW, and solar module capacity to 740 MW.
