Finnish wind Power Association

Finland is among the world's leaders within wind power technology. Finnish industry manufacturers all the key components, including generators, gears, steel for the towers, fiber glass reinforcements for the blades, and also ice-free wind sensors and anti-icing systems for blades in arctic wind turbines.

Finnish Wind Power Association (FWPA) is active in spreading information and influencing decision-making on the behalf of wind power.

Total installed wind power in Finland is 128 MW, 113 wind turbines (March, 2008). At the end of 2007 the installed capacity was 110 MW, 107 turbines. Wind power production in 2007 was 188 GWh, which is about 0.2 % of the Finnish electricity consumption.

FWPA has one board member in the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). The Association co-operates with VTT Energy and the Finnish Meteorological Institute in producing Finnish wind energy statistics.
