Making generation of wind energy possible
ESAB offers high quality products and services for building wind turbine towers.

Wind energy has emerged as one of the fastest growing areas in power generation. ESAB's success here lies in consulting with its customers in order to optimise a workflow which is cutting and welding intensive. Wind tower production in particular is an area where ESAB has a long history of customer co-operation and experience of efficient solutions.
Dedicated solutions for dedicated manufacturers
The secret behind the efficient production of wind towers is a smooth component flow in the workshop, as well as highly efficient eqiupment and processes.
The benefit of a high deposition welding process is completely lost if the set up or handling of components in any area of the process fails or are unable to match the high production rate. ESAB can assist with the welding and cutting process in wind tower production, and deliver finely tuned solutions for each step in your welding production.
With a complete package from ESAB there is only one supplier and one time plan. This results in a large project being organised efficiently, with a fixed cost and agreed time schedule. Smooth production flow is a part of the complete delivery.
High productivity welding with a deposition rate of up to 40 kg/hour with a tandem twin submerged-arc welding head is possible. The process is specially designed for production of wind towers where benefits from working in narrow weld preparations with reduced weld volumes can be achieved. This combination will result in dramatically reduced welding time and increased productivity.
A dedicated wire and flux combination can eliminate major obstacles such as reduced impact strength in the weld, and poor slag release in narrow joints. OK 12.22 wire and OK 10.72 flux from ESAB gives good impact strength at minus 50 degrees, to satisfy offshore wind tower applications.
High quality, high efficiency with high environmental awareness
As the first global company to have achieved both ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification throughout the whole world, ESAB can ensure that their operations and products meet the same high environmental and health and safety standards in every market and are committed to continuously improve their global standards.
ESAB’s lifecycle approach to product responsibility covers design, development, production, sales and service.
Modern solutions, aimed at increased efficiency
Throughout ESAB’s centennial history leadership has always been gained through technical inventions and flexibility. The company philosophy remains strong today, with creative solutions as a constant result.
