Teststation for wind turbines
Viva tests wind turbines for type approval, documentation and support for industrial development.
TEST STATION. VIVA operates a test station for wind turbines in Norway.
Viva operates a test station for wind turbines in Norway.
Using staff and competence from SINTEF Energy Research (Sefas), Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) on a project basis, VIVA offers to carry out the following tests:
- Power performance measurements
- Acoustic noise measurements
- Power quality measurements
- Structural load measurements
The tests may be performed according to international standards, or extended according to client specifications. Other tests and measurements may also be negotiated, e.g. safety system test and other system tests, and various components tests.
Sefas, IFE and NTNU are active in wind energy R&D both nationally and internationally, and are also taking part in the development of international standards for wind turbines. To further ensure and improve the testing capabilities, Viva will apply for membership in MEASNET and collaborate with other test stations for wind turbines.
The site at Valsneset offers excellent conditions for performing high-quality tests of wind turbines for type approval, documentation and support to industrial development. However, the tests may be carried out at other sites pending on client requirements.
