WindSim's singular focus on wind energy has enabled them to help the industry's worldwide leaders meet the challenges of wind farm design and wind resource & energy assessment for more than ten years— earning them unrivaled domain expertise. WindSim AS is recognized worldwide as the leading provider—and the thought leader—in the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics and other advanced methods in the wind energy industry.
Wind Atlas
In 1998, WindSim AS established the Norwegian Wind Atlas in cooperation with the Norwegian Meteorological institute. Simulating the local wind field conditions along the complex Norwegian coastline was a challenging task. The WindSim methodology was developed during this project to help meet those demands.
The first version of WindSim software was launched in 2003. Since then, there has been strong, steady growth in adoption. WindSim is used by worldwide wind energy industry leaders including Enercon, Gamesa, GE Energy, Nordex, REpower, Siemens, Suzlon, Vestas and many more.
Accuracy
Today's wind energy industry demands software that delivers more accurate simulations. Studies prove that CFD captures terrain effects on wind conditions more realistically than traditional technologies used. CFD's value when faced with complex terrain is well known. It also delivers value in simple terrain—and for offshore too. It's increasingly prevalent to merge modern CFD methods with traditional approaches for the best decisions.
WindSim's customers optimize park layouts by identifying turbine locations with the highest wind speeds—but with low turbulence—to maximize production. They minimize loads on turbines to prevent potential problems.
WindSim AS develops; market and sell the software WindSim. WindSim AS also offers professional services including consulting and training courses.
