Small scale wind solutions
Eagle Windpower Ltd. develops and manufactures nanotechnology-based wind turbine blades and turbines for small wind power enterprices.
EAGLE. Eagle's wind turbines are sold to small enterprises, farms, public agencies, households, and to build small windfarms, currently in the 2-100kW range.
Eagle has several innovative technologies and won three major innovation prizes in 2008.
Eagle's wind turbines are sold to small enterprises, farms, public agencies, households and to build small windfarms in the 2-100kW range. In most countries buyers can sell excess electricity back to their utilities. In addition, most buyers receive government subsidies or significant tax benefits when they buy small wind turbines. As a result the small and medium-sized wind turbine industry is expected to grow to more than 40 % in major markets, such as the US.
Eagle Technology
Eagle has developed or acquired several major technologies and innovations. Eagle's technologies relate especially to Eagle's turbine blades and their manufacture. Eagle's turbine blades are made of Hybotnite, a patented ultralight weight epoxy. Eagle has an exclusive license to use Hybtonite in small and medium-sized turbine blades, from Amroy Ltd. Hybtonite is today used by major global sporting goods manufacturers and e.g. by yachtmakers.
With Hybtonite Eagle was able to reduce blade weights to approximately one half of the weight of glassfiber blades, and Eagle's blades tested still significantly stronger than competing blades. In addition Eagle has been able to automate the manufacturing of its blades. Due to the innovative blades, Eagle is developing a very innovative and complete solution consisting of generators and grid connectors which can benefit from the light weight of the turbine blades.
